Position Summary:

The Digital Media Producer is responsible for conceptualizing, developing, producing, shooting and editing a variety of high-quality video productions to be used in support of University of Idaho projects and initiatives. The incumbent will provide quality professional customer service and media production services for a diverse clientele to develop and produce clear and effective electronic media communications for both internal and external audiences delivered via social media, the university website (or any affiliate), television broadcast, live event image magnification (IMAG) and other electronic delivery channels.

This position also serves as video project manager. University Communications and Marketing regularly consults with colleges, units, departments and administrative leaders to develop plans of work. This position is part of the University Communications and Marketing team that consults with and develops work plans for those units. Responsibilities include collaborating with University Communications and Marketing directors and other marketers to discuss marketing strategies and decide when and how video productions will serve the needs of clients.

This position supervises the University Communications and Marketing Digital Media Production team. Supervisory duties include directing team operations of Digital Media Assistant Producers, maintaining the editing server spaces and Media Asset Management tool, accounting for resources and unit results. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing operations, fiscal planning, budgeting, and policies and procedures. This position is responsible for reviewing and approving all videos before final delivery to the client.

Primary videography responsibilities include researching, conceptualizing, producing, shooting, managing and delivering video productions for web, television, live events and other electronic delivery needs. This position is responsible for the technical tasks related to production and post-production. The incumbent will transport, setup, operate equipment, assist with location scouting, staging, lighting, and set preparation and design. This position works closely with other members of University Communications and Marketing to insure all videos fit within the University of Idaho's visual identity and brand.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a related field and four years of related experience (any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis).

Experience with video conceptualization, art-direction, research, scripting, planning, budgeting and delivery.

Experience organizing, directing, managing, staging, lighting and shooting video projects, operating video cameras, video recorders, audio mixers and microphone systems, studio and portable lights, editing systems, graphics systems, audio boards and video switchers.

Experience with professional video editing software.

Experience using Microsoft office including word, excel, and outlook.

Ability to utilize advanced video graphic methods, techniques, processes and equipment.

Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of five years experience with video program production from concept and development through acquisition, editing and program distribution via the web and other electronic media.

Skilled in story telling, story development and concept refinement.

Advanced understanding of social media and the role video can play within each channel (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.).

Experience supervising and managing direct reports in a deadline-driven environment.

Experience managing and monitoring social media videos to generate reports for leadership.

Experience with Windows XP, Windows 7, 8, 10 and Macintosh computer systems.

Advanced experience with software used in media development, post production, graphics design, web design, webcast, live event production including, but not limited to Adobe Creative suite including Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects, Sony Vegas Pro, SoundForge, Filemaker/Studio Suite.

Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients.

Demonstrated ability to organize work and effectively manage multiple projects successfully.

Demonstrated implementation of good design principles and creativity in electronic media production.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Ability to climb ladders.

Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move video production equipment weighing 50 pounds over various terrain and conditions.

Possess valid drivers license and ability to pass van driver safety course and drive UI vehicles.

Must be willing to work a varied flexible schedule including early mornings, nights and weekends related to event-based work.

Ability to travel.

Ability to work long hours and meet rigorous deadlines under deadline.
