General Job Description:
ABC57 and the CW25 have an immediate opening for a full-time Broadcast Engineer to join our growing office! Home to Michianas newest newscasts, we are looking for an eager problem-solver.
Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs of video production systems, broadcast and satellite transmission equipment, and interactive media with emphasis in Electronic News Gathering (ENG).
Technical support of a News operations that includes but not limited to broadcast and DSLR cameras, cellular bonded backpacks, Live trucks, non-linear editing, production control room automation, Avid iNews, video and audio routing, encoded streams, video servers, etc.
Develop, build and maintain content workflow, support systems integration and problem solving, software, hardware, networking and infrastructure.
Setting up and monitoring audiovisual links between mobile units in different locations
Minimizing loss of service at times of equipment failure
Identifying and implementing alternative methods of service provision.
Other duties, as assigned.
Must have a solid understanding of Windows and Linux.
Strong computer skills including file transfer and storage, transcoding processes and ability to remote support.
Previous experience with broadcast technology; repairing hardware and software a must.
Good organization, attention to detail and proactivity.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, hard worker and have a great attitude.
Must be able to communicate effectively and work independent.
Must be able to use a variety of equipment including but not limited to Networking equipment, Server systems, transcoding servers, Scopes, switcher operation, Digital video cameras, DSLR, NRCS, computer graphics systems, non-linear editing, broadcast automation and video servers, embedded audio. RF (Radio Frequency) transmitter, satellite IRDs experience a plus.
Ability to guide, coach, and train colleagues.
Must be able to comprehend schematics, mechanical drawings and technical manuals and documents. The use of test equipment and soldering skills required.
Knowledge of Telestream FlipFactory (Vantage), GVG Startus and Edius a plus.
Must be able to quickly learn new technologies and implement them into existing broadcast infrastructure.
