This position requires a highly motivated individual, capable of working independent of direct supervision, to support a wide array of communications systems. These systems include wireless SCADA telemetry, satellite, microwave, phone systems, voice radios, CCTV, badge access, as well as fiber optic and copper LAN cabling infrastructure. This position will provide direct support of local projects, system preventative maintenance, fault isolation and troubleshooting in addition to 24 hour on-call support. This position will require interfacing with both external vendors and internal technicians/engineers to provide support for the systems in the region.
Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various communications systems.
Assist projects group with the implementation of project related systems.
Direct local contractors engaged in the installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems.
Provide support and first level training of field operations personnel.
Interface with both external vendors and internal technician/engineers to provide system support.
Provide channel allocations/configurations and changes to the microwave and leased network.
Drive standards in the field and provide feedback to the communications engineering team.
Provide 24 X 7 on-call support.
Travel up to 50%.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications include:
An Associates degree in Electronics or 7 years equivelent work experience.
FCC license preferred.
A network certification such as a CCNA would be a plus.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years experience in the installation and/or maintenance of telecommunications systems, including wireless data systems, microwave, channel banks, copper and fiber systems, phone systems, CCTV, satellite, badge access, and interfaces to various SCADA systems.
Candidates should be able to utilize test equipment and software required to support telecommunications systems in the field.
Candidates should also be proficient with MS Word and Excel.
Ability to work independently of direct supervision and prioritize assigned activities.
Ability to interact with internal and external teams /clients to solve problems.
Physical ability to work in an outdoor environment and safely and effectively operate a motor vehicle.
Should be able to lift moderate weight, kneel, bend, twist and climb ladders as a normal part of the duties.
