DESCRIPTION:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC has an immediate opening for a Broadcast Engineer to support the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at its Washington D.C. location. Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

- Assist EPA with developing, implementing, and supporting broadcast enterprise infrastructure solutions.

- Ensure continued application maintenance is completed.

- Perform database back ups.

- Provide incident reports (utilizing ITSM) or any unscheduled broadcast solution outages.

- Provides technical support to video- teleconferencing and audiovisual events in scheduling, set-up, and testing / troubleshooting of events.

- Participates in the execution of AV and VTC installations and hardware upgrades.

- Windows Server 2008/2012

- Active Directory and SQL databases

- VBrick- Preferred

- Support the video broadcast infrastructure and the hardware/software connectivity to the network to include all associated equipment to the broadcast system (see VBrick Topology and EPATv Signal Path attachments for current topology and associated equipment)

- Coordinate with the Office of Multimedia, Network, and Administrator staff to ensure that infrastructure is operational and that broadcasts are supported and transmitted. This includes pre-testing broadcast feeds and ensuring network connectivity.

- Testing encoder quality and 508 compliance associated with broadcasts

- Monitoring broadcast feeds to ensure end-to-end connectivity

- Coordinate with network staff to ensure the IP broadcast content is delivered to all EPA sites.

- Coordinate with Network staff when working with IP addresses associated with devices

- Conduct quarterly tests in coordination with Office of Multimedia

- Hardware/software recommendations for system functionality and upgrades to meet EPA's current and future requirements (e.g. cloud-based technologies)

- Assist EPA with developing, implementing, and supporting broadcast enterprise infrastructure solutions (as appropriate).

- Coordinate with Network and Hosting staff to ensure high availability and quality for the Broadcast solution.

- Ensure continued application maintenance is completed.

- Provide as needed application patching and updates from vendor

- Verify that the current anti-virus software, OS patches, and pattern files are installed/applied as needed.

- Removal of the .CBS file regularly, to save space

- Change AD password every 90 days

- Perform Database backup every 30 days and ensure backup checks are correct and readable

- Provide Incident Reports (utilizing ITSM) for any unscheduled broadcast solution outages.

- Ensure compliance with all EPA security reporting tools profile reports. The rating will be based on the standard Agency security grading criteria.

- Update documentation/diagrams as needed (when any network or system changes are made).

QUALIFICATIONS:

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Qualified candidates are required to have an AA degree in related discipline and 8 years related experience.

- 2 years of related experience may be used in lieu of a degree

- A Bachelors Degree may be used in lieu of 4 years of experience.

- Qualified candidates need to have:

- Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment is a must.

- Implementing procedures, policies, and technical solutions to customer's AV and VTC challenges.

- Strong communication skills.

- Advanced organization and prioritization skills.

- Keep up to date on new technologies and be able to recommend changes/updates if needed.
