Radio One, Inc. celebrates our 35th Anniversary. To say this is a milestone in the history of our company is an understatement. As many of you know, my mother and step father started this company with little to no resources, but they had a big vision, much passion and a tremendous conviction to serve the community. WOL was born and for the first time Black people in DC had a voice and a platform to express themselves. And as they say, “The rest is history.” From one talk radio station in DC, to 53 urban stations in 16 markets, our radio group has the largest urban radio footprint in the country. But, we didn’t stop there. We diversified our business and added radio syndication, cable television, digital and finally an integrated marketing agency. It has been 35 years and Radio One, Inc. still stands as the only African-American owned and targeted multi-media platform in the United States reaching over 82% of Black households with our diversified portfolio of media assets.
