A radio communications engineer is responsible for designing of radio communication devices. A radio communications engineer manages the city\'s radio communications systems and perform highly skilled work in installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing a wide variety of electronic, radio and digital communications equipment. A radio communications engineer performs engineering duties and works with staff on wireless communications systems projects that include engineering studies involving equipment and applications. A radio communications engineer prepares radio propagation charts for internal and external client agencies to depict radio coverage on existing or test sites of interest. A radio communications engineer coordinates frequency usages and site impact specifications with client agencies to assure continued availability to meet user needs. A radio communications engineer plans, designs, engineers, and constructs telecommunications systems (e. g. radio, network, data, and microwave) as well as analyzes telecommunications problems and needs (e.g. interference, intelligibility, clarity) to determine the most appropriate means of reducing, eliminating, and or avoiding current and future problems and improve communications.
A radio communications engineer should have bachelor’s degree in engineering, telecommunication or other relevant field and at least three years of relevant experience. A radio communications engineer should have good exposure to analog electrical design with focus on audio and radio communications. Experience in design layout may be required. A radio communications engineer should have the ability to interact directly with customers as well as have strong technical writing & oral presentation skills.
